Speaker biography:
Al Ordonez is a Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Homeland Security Investigations. SA Ordonez began his 29-year law enforcement career in 1995, as a Correctional Officer with the Miami Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department in Miami, Florida. In 1999, he was hired as Postal Inspector by U.S. Postal Inspection Service where he was assigned to work Internal Crimes in Los Angeles, California. In 2007, he was promoted to Team Leader in West Palm Beach, Florida where he supervised the mail theft and violent crimes unit. In 2009, SA Ordonez transferred to the Department of Homeland Security where he was responsible for investigating transnational criminal organizations involved in human trafficking, narcotics trafficking, human smuggling, and money laundering with the Special Agent in Charge Miami Office of Homeland Security Investigations. Since July 2022, SA Ordonez has been assigned to the DHS Center for Countering Human Trafficking as a National Program Manager where he has been providing support to HSI human trafficking investigations and conducting training and outreach both in the US and overseas. SA Ordonez is a two-time recipient of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Florida, Federal Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award.

Terry Schappert: Board Member and Head of Financial Institution Relationships for The Knoble
Terry Schappert spent 35 years in financial services, mainly with Bank of America and Fifth Third. He has a diverse background ranging from global fraud management and operations to finance and operational risk management. He is as integral member of executive leadership teams contributing a broad-based perspective, pragmatic and customer-focused solutions with an unwavering desire for excellence resulting in consistent collective success. In 2020 he joined The Knoble, which is an alliance of financial, government, legal, and NGO professionals joining forces to stop human crime. By joining forces, we can protect vulnerable populations including victims of human trafficking, financial scams, elder exploitation, and child sexual exploitation.
Speakers' Topic: Behind the Transaction - Human Crime is the exploitation of human beings for financial gain: human trafficking, scams, elder financial exploitation, and child exploitation. In this session, you will hear from Terry Schappert, The Knoble’s lead on working with the financial community to detect Child Sexual Exploitation in financial transactions through project Umbra. Project Umbra has now gathered over 30 of the top US Financial Institutions together to support law enforcement efforts to detect online child exploitation. In addition, you will hear from the Founder of The Knoble, Ian Mitchell, about how you can join thousands of financial crime fighters working together to fight Human Crime.
